Serbia meets Switzerland in a game from Group E of the FIFA World Cup

Serbia meets Switzerland in a game from Group E of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. This match is going to be played at the Kaliningrad Stadium in the city of Kaliningrad. Here are our winning soccer predictions for it.

Serbia started their participation at the World Cup in the best way possible – with a win. The Eagles beat Costa Rica with 1-0 in Samara, thanks to the spectacular goal from free kick, scored by the captain Aleksandar Kolarov. We can say that the Serbian team was the better one on the pitch, so their win in Samara was well deserved. They had some other chances to score as well, but Aleksandar Mitrovic and Filip Kostic made some big misses in front of the goal.

Besides the win, the most important thing for Serbia was that the Balkan team showed some good football, successful combinations and a lot of confidence on the pitch. Clearly the Serbian team is ready for something more at this year’s World Cup. And reaching the knockout phase would be a pretty good start for them. If the Eagles manage to win against Switzerland, they will qualify for the 1/8-finals.

Switzerland on the other hand started their participation at the World Cup with a 1-1 draw against the big favourite in the group Brazil. The Swiss team was in the position of an absolute underdog against Selecao, but they showed to everyone that they are a team which shall not be underrestimated. Despite of conceding first in the first half, Vladimir Petkovic’ team fought for a point, thanks to the equalizing goal of Steven Zuber.

We all know that Switzerland are a solid team, which is able to take point or three against the best ones in the world. But to be honest – it was a few which expected that Petkovic’ boys will take something from Brazil. Well – this happened, which makes the group even more interesting now.

Before this match the Serbian manager Mladen Krstajic admitted that it’s going to be a very difficult game for his players. He called the Swiss team “very strong, compact and experienced”. He reminded everyone that Switzerland won 27 points during the qualifiers, which is an impressive achievement. “Their coach is also very good”, added Krstajic, talking about the experienced Vladimir Petkovic.

Meanwhile the Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic have some problems before the game with Serbia. The experienced Valon Behrami have a thigh injury, but it’s expected that he’s going to play in the next game. “We need him”, admitted Petkovic, speaking about Behrami.

This is going to be the first time, when Serbia meets Switzerland as an independent nation. But it won’t be easy for them as Switzerland lost just one of their last 23 games – against Portugal in October 2017. They shall watch out for Steven Zuber, who’s involved in six goals in his last six starts for the Swiss side. He’s also the man who leveled the score against Brazil few days ago.

These are our winning soccer predictions for the World Cup game from Group E between Serbia and Switzerland. We can’t say that there is a clear favourite here. Serbia are the current leader in the group with three points, but Switzerland showed their strenghts against Brazil, winning a point against one of the big favourites for the trophy. We expect to see a generally competitive game between two teams with a similar quality. Based on experience on international level, maybe Switzerland have some advantage here. Let’s see if they are going to use it, because this is the most important thing – the final result.
